Police Arrest Man Who Impregnated 10-Year-Old Girl After She Gave Birth In Benue (photos)


 The police in Benue on Wednesday confirmed the arrest of an 18-year-old man, Terna Taga, who allegedly defiled and impregnated a 10-year-old girl. Taga was alleged to have raped the minor who at an internally displaced persons camp in Benue.

DSP Catherine Anene, Benue Police Public Relations Office (PPRO), told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Makurdi on Wednesday that Taga was arrested in North Bank on Tuesday evening. She said the suspect is in custody for further investigations.

”The command will decide on the next line of action after full interrogation and investigation into the case,” Anene told NAN.

The news of the minor’s pregnancy broke on August 4 when she was dumped in a General Hospital, Makurdi by an unknown person.

  Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths of twin toddlers who drowned at a family home in Kloof Falls, on the KZN upper west highway, Durban, at the weekend. According to a spokesperson from Rescue Care, the two-year-old brothers died just before 5pm on Saturday afternoon, 20th  “Rescue Care Paramedics arrived on the scene to find the twins had somehow fallen into the family pool. Paramedics assessed the two and attempted to resuscitate them. However, their attempts were not successful and both boys were declared deceased on the scene,” the spokesperson said. Taking to social media following the horrific incident, the boys’ grandfather, Ivan Ikes, said the twins’ parents had gone to sympathise with another family.
